Kid Cudi is opening up about a major acting role he once missed out on — and how he ultimately came to terms with it.
Speaking on a recent episode of Big Bro with Kid Cudi, a Wave Original, the musician and actor revealed that he auditioned for the lead role in Get Out, which ultimately went to Daniel Kaluuya.
The 2017 film, directed by Jordan Peele, earned widespread critical acclaim and helped propel 37-year-old Kaluuya’s career.

Speaking about the audition process, the 42-year-old rapper and actor said he immediately recognized the film's potential and was eager to be part of it.
“I auditioned for Get Out and I really... I read the script and I knew it was about to go," he said. "So I really wanted it and I did the audition in front of Jordan [Peele] and he was showing me so much love. and said I did great. And when I didn't get it, I was so bitter."

He continued: "But then I finally saw the movie and I was like, you know, Daniel was the best option. I get it. When a role is for you, it's for you . When. you don't get it, it wasn't meant for you. He killed it. Daniel was a master at his craft and that's how I became a fan of his, through that movie, and we became homies. That's my guy now."
Kaluuya’s performance in the film earned him an Academy Award nomination.
Cudi (whose real name is Scott Mescudi) has worked as both a rapper, singer and an actor, appearing in films like 2021's Don't Look Up, X in 2022 and the TV series including How to Make It in America.
In a 2022 interview with the Associated Press, Peele spoke about the possibility of making a sequel to Get Out.
"I do get asked that a lot," he said at the time. "Never say never."
He continued, "There's certainly a lot to talk about left. We'll see."
