Walt Disney World has announced the highly anticipated Disney Villains show coming to Hollywood Studios will be titled Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After. The news was revealed during The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular on December 1. Replacing Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, which had its final performance on October 7, 2024, this new live entertainment experience will take place at the Sunset Showcase. The upcoming show at Disney World promises to transport guests into a thrilling and darkly humorous world led by some of Disney’s most infamous villains.
The highly anticipated villains show at Hollywood Studios isn’t the only villain-themed addition coming to Walt Disney World. Disney has previously announced plans for a new Villains-themed land at Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. This exciting area will shine a spotlight on a variety of Disney villains and will include dining, shopping, and two major attractions. The land is set to be developed in the northwest corner of the Magic Kingdom, where the Rivers of America is currently located.
Set to debut in the summer of 2025, an all-new live production featuring some of Disney’s most iconic villains will take the stage on Sunset Boulevard. The production unfolds in the mysterious realm of the Magic Mirror, where Disney’s iconic villains are ready to share their side of the story. Iconic Disney villains are set to take center stage in the new production, titled Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After, with 101 Dalmatians' Cruella de Vil, Peter Pan's Captain Hook, and Sleeping Beauty's Maleficent "breaking through the glass" for individual performances. As Disney previously revealed, Disney Live Entertainment will transform Sunset Showcase into the eerie and reflective world of the Magic Mirror.
Disney has also shared a conceptual rendering of Cruella's segment, along with a composite image teasing appearances by other fan-favorite villains, including Jafar from Aladdin, the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, Hades from Hercules, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Scar from The Lion King, and Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove.
The new villains show will join the upcoming The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This stage production is set to replace the cherished Voyage of the Little Mermaid show, which first opened in 1992 in the Animation Courtyard. The original production closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has not reopened since. The highly anticipated The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure is scheduled to debut in the summer of 2025.
This latest announcement comes shortly after Disney Parks confirmed the beloved MuppetVision 3D attraction at Hollywood Studios will close to make way for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land. To adapt to these changes, Disney plans to re-theme the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, currently featuring Aerosmith, into a Muppets-inspired music festival attraction. This initiative seeks to maintain The Muppets' presence in the park, giving fans a fresh and exciting way to connect with these beloved characters.
