Guinness World Records achieved by Hollywood celebrities

Celebrities make their name by grabbing attention, but some have taken their talents to record-breaking extremes. Taylor Swift’s record-breaking achievements include spending the most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Artist 100 and releasing the fastest-selling digital album by a female artist. Jackie Chan set the record for most stunts performed by a living actor, appearing in over 100 films and enduring injuries, including a broken nose, cheekbones, and skull throughout his career. Pharrell Williams created the longest music video ever with “Happy,” a 24-hour production looping the song more than 300 times. Eminem set a rapid-fire record with “Rap God,” delivering 1,560 words in six minutes and four seconds, including an astonishing 97 words in just one blistering 15-second segment of skill. Snoop Dogg mixed the world’s largest paradise cocktail, combining 180 bottles of gin, 156 bottles of apricot brandy, and 28 jugs of orange juice into one massive creation. Dwayne Johnson set a flavorful record by crafting a 540-pound layered dip in a 100-gallon tank. It took over five hours to assemble the enormous creation, with creativity on display throughout. A big record for a fittingly big man.

Controversies surrounding actors that led to their films underperforming

Hollywood scandals often eclipse the movies themselves, and in rare cases, the fallout becomes so overwhelming that the films never recover. The controversy around “Rub & Tug” exploded when Scarlett Johansson was cast as crime figure Tex Gill, a transgender man. Backlash over representation intensified after her initial dismissal of critics, ultimately prompting her to abandon the film entirely. With confidence lost, the film was cancelled before production and therefore never earned a dollar. It was later reimagined as a television project led by trans creators. “I Love You, Daddy”, written, directed by, and starring Louis CK, collapsed just before its planned 2017 release when misconduct allegations against the comedian became public. Distributors worldwide immediately pulled the film, leaving it unreleased. Although leaked screeners circulated online, cast members publicly supported shelving the movie entirely. Sia’s “Music” became a lightning rod for criticism due to harmful portrayals of autism and the casting of Maddie Ziegler as a nonverbal autistic teen. Condemnation from advocates and critics sank audience interest. Despite its intentions, the movie flopped financially, earning only about $645,000 against a $16 million budget. “Rust” was overshadowed by the tragic on-set death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins after a live round was discharged from Alec Baldwin’s prop gun. Lawsuits, safety questions, and widespread outrage defined the production. Not only did it ruin the reputation of its lead actor, but when the film was finally released in 2025, it earned just $25,000 in its opening weekend.
