RICOCHET CALLS HIS TITLE SHOT & OTHER MUST-SEE AEW DYNAMITE MOMENTS FROM THIS WEEK

The September 18, 2024 episode of AEW Dynamite was not as noteworthy as recent weeks, slowing down in terms of big angles and momentum. This is likely due to AEW settling before a major week next week, as both Dynamite & Collision will take place in the Arthur Ashe Stadium for AEW Grand Slam 2024.

Ricochet Has Continued His Momentum Ahead Of Challenging Will Ospreay

Ricochet Defeated The Beast Mortos

  • The pair had a wild but clumsy match
  • Ricochet has been gaining wins each week in AEW
  • He is making sure he earns an International Title shot

In recent weeks, Will Ospreay told Ricochet to get some wins before challenging him for the International Championship. Ricochet has done just that, adding a win over The Beast Mortos this week to make him 3-0 in singles action since his AEW debut. In a backstage segment, Ricochet and Ospreay got heated, and Ricochet declared that he’d spoken to Tony Khan and had been granted a title match on Dynamite’s 5-Year Anniversary show on October 2.

Ricochet also said to Ospreay that everyone was talking about him and not the champion, before “little bro-ing” him to end the segment.

Cassidy Had Jerichos Number Once Again

  • The pair recently rekindled their 2020 feud
  • Their match on Dynamite was lengthier than expected
  • The audience were invested in their battle

In recent weeks, Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy kickstarted their rivalry once again, with Jericho still fuming over Cassidy ruining his expensive jacket four years ago. They battled in a lengthy singles match on AEW Dynamite this week in a match which certainly exceeded all expectations, especially since Jericho’s matches and feuds have been pretty poor in recent months.

The pair went back and forth for nearly 20 minutes, with Cassidy’s Conglomeration friends evening up the odds against Jericho’s cheating allies of Big Bill & Bryan Keith. In the end, Cassidy stole a roll of quarters that Jericho had in his hand, which enabled him to hit a big Orange Punch to score the victory.

Will Ospreay & Kyle Fletcher Build Momentum But Not Without Some Issues

The Don Callis Family Defeated The Elite In The Main Event

  • Ospreay, Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita overcame The Elite
  • There was a lot of friction between Ospreay & Takeshita
  • Ospreay & Fletcher will challenge The Young Bucks next week

The main event of AEW Dynamite saw a wild trios match between The Don Callis Family and The Elite. The end of the match had Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher working together to pin Matthew Jackson, building momentum ahead of their AEW World Tag Team Championship match at Grand Slam next week against The Bucks.

During the match however, there were some issues bubbling between Ospreay and Takeshita, and that boiled over post-match as the pair got in each other’s faces and pushed each other around. This could hint at issues within The Family in the coming weeks, and it is something for fans to keep an eye on.
