TONY KHAN APPROVES AN AEW WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH FOR GRAND SLAM

Yuka Sakazaki is now 2-0 in her return to AEW, including a disqualification victory over Serena Deeb and AEW Women’s World champion Mariah May on the Sept. 18 Dynamite.

That got The Glamour’s attention, so she cut a post-show promo saying that she’s targeting Sakazaki in her next title defense. And she wants to take out Yuka next Wednesday at Dynamite Grand Slam in Arthur Ashe Stadium (while also confirming that Mina Shirakawa will come... to that show).

That was all AEW President Tony Khan needed to hear, as he made the match official online shortly after that was released.

With that, four matches are now confirmed for Sept. 25 in Queens, New York:

  • AEW World champion Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness (non-title; will only take place if Danielson is cleared)
  • Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin for Allin’s AEW World title shot
  • The Young Bucks (c) vs. Will Ospreay & Kyle Fletcher for the AEW Tag Team championshio
  • Mariah May (c) vs. Yuka Sakazaki for the AEW Women’s World title

Two other matches have been announced, but it hasn’t been specified if they’ll air live next Wednesday, or be taped for Collision Grand Slam and air on Sept. 28:

  • Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta) open challenge for their AEW Trios championship
  • HOOK (c) vs. Roderick Strong for the FTW title
