Anderson Cooper isn’t signing off just yet.
The longtime CNN journalist has signed a new contract with the cable news network, extending his 24-year career with the network, according to multiple reports.
E! News has reached out to a rep for Anderson for comment and has not yet heard back. CNN declined to comment.
After joining the network in 2001, Anderson launched the daily news program Anderson Cooper 360 in 2003—which still runs today—and the once-weekly The Whole Story in 2023. He also hosts the podcast and streaming series All There Is—which focuses on grief and has featured notable conversations with Stephen Colbert and Whoopi Goldberg—and the annual New Year’s Eve Live show alongside Andy Cohen.
Over the years, Anderson has been vocal about his passion for journalism and why he continues to pursue the career.
“I consider it a great privilege of my life that I’m able to still go to places and tell people’s stories,” he said in 2016 while accepting a lifetime achievement award from Yale, his alma mater, “and to bear witness to the struggle of people who are trying to live good and decent lives in the midst of chaos and war and disaster.”

The 58-year-old—whose parents are Gloria Vanderbilt and Wyatt Cooper—added, “For me, it’s one of the most rewarding things about what I do.”
While Anderson is set to remain at CNN, he isn’t the only media personality who recently extended his contract. Indeed, E! News has learned that ABC extended its contract with Jimmy Kimmel, who will continue to host Jimmy Kimmel Live until at least May 2027.
Meanwhile, CBS announced earlier this year that they would be cancelling The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in May 2026.
“It's not just the end of our show, but it's the end of The Late Show on CBS,” Stephen told his audience during a July episode. “I'm not being replaced. This is all just going away.”
Amid his sadness, the 61-year-old reflected on his 10 years of hosting the show and what the experience has meant to him.
“I'm grateful to you, the audience, who have joined us,” he continued. “I'm grateful to share the stage with this band, these artists over here every night. And I am extraordinarily, deeply grateful to the 200 people who work here. We get to do this show for each other every day, all day, and I've had the pleasure and the responsibility of sharing what we do every day with you in front of this camera for the last 10 years.”
