The 'Today' co-hosts had an awkward moment on Wednesday's live broadcast.
Jenna Bush Hager is about to make her big screen debut—and her fellow Today co-host accidentally spilled the big secret on Wednesday’s broadcast. The Today With Jenna and Shenelle anchor did not hold back as Craig Melvin unintentionally broke the news of Bush Hager’s upcoming cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Bush Hager was chatting with Melvin, weatherman Al Roker, and Savannah Guthrie—who recently made her on-air return after a two-month hiatus—on April 8 when the 46-year-old broadcaster made an unexpected announcement. As the conversation turned to the highly-anticipated sequel featuring original actors Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt, Melvin revealed that Bush Hager would also be joining the star-studded cast.
“By the way, you know how that movie’s going to be good?” Melvin rhetorically asked the group. “You know how I can tell? JBH is in it.” A visibly shocked Bush Hager took a moment to recover, responding, “I don’t know that you were supposed to drop that bomb, but if you’re…”
Guthrie chimed in, breaking some of the awkwardness with a playful dig at her fellow Today show co-host. This is live. You cannot tell Craig anything!”
Melvin looked horrified, exclaiming, “I thought it was common knowledge?” to which Roker joked, “It is now.” Melvin apologized to Bush Hager for spilling the beans, suggesting, “Cut it out for the other feeds. Sorry about that, JBH.”
Bush Hager didn’t reveal what character she’ll play in the follow-up to the 2006 cult classic. However, it’s not the first time that the mom-of-three—who shares daughters Mila and Poppy and son Hal with husband Henry Chase Hager—has starred in a film. Bush Hager previously made her very first movie appearance on the Hallmark channel's 2024 Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, whichalso starred the Kansas City Chiefs star's mom Donna Kelce.
